The second L2R course of 2019 began on Sunday 9 th June, with the sunshine ensuring the first venture onto the water was an enjoyable one!
Three quads took to the water, giving a fantastic show of YBC colours on the new cut of the river. Ever helpful volunteers helped steer the quads and steady the boats while the novices got to grips with feathering and squaring the blades, before the whole crews got rowing together.
A big thank you to helpers Karina, Greg, and George for making the session possible! Boat Captains David W, Shelagh, and Manuela gave comprehensive tours of the site, before running through the boat and erg inductions.
Alex coached his first full L2R session, with Rob in the background assisting from the launch. There was a great deal of positivity before the session started, which concluded with smiles all round and great development from the newbies.
The next sessions will be from 10.30am on 16th June, 30th June, and 7th July. If anyone is interested in volunteering to help out with these sessions and getting new people involved with our club, please contact Inger/Shelagh.
